Parents Say: 8 Ways for New Parents to Get More Sleep

You bring your little bundle of joy home from the hospital. As new parents you’re probably thinking now what? Do you need a White Noise Machine? You’ve read all the baby books out there. Every family member has given you words of advice. Now is the time to put what you know into action. So take it easy and relax a little bit, were going to talk about your baby’s sleep habits.

Pump and sleep

We started supplying our daughter White Noise Machine when she was 2 weeks old. I’d pump at 9 p.m. and then go to bed. My hubby would wake her at 10:30 p.m. and present her the pumped breasts milk. I got to sleep from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m., when she woke up again.”

Midnight power-snacking

The best way I’ve found to cope with disrupted sleep (the twins are on different schedules) is to possess ‘power snack foods’ when I’m up with the babies. Peanut butter and crackers, one glass of skim dairy, yogurt, etc. The food helps me feel better in the morning after those evenings when it seems like nobody sleeps.

One nighttime on, one night off

My wife and I took turns getting up with our boy every other night time like clockwork for the first nine weeks. It had been not enjoyable, but was a significant survival tactic.

With our first daughter, my husband and I rotated nights. For instance, he had Monday night time and I had Tuesday night, and so on. It worked out great! WHENEVER I understood it was his evening, I would help you more with getting everything ready for the night time and he would do the same for me. We plan on doing the same for our next child.

Separate rooms

On the evenings that I must say i want undisturbed slumber, my husband and kid sleep in another room therefore i don’t listen to them get right up for feeding and changing. We also take converts sleeping in on the weekend.

Shift work

We’ve found that the best way to protect our sleep and make sure we’re practical for work is to use our princess in shifts. My partner usually grips the first transfer (10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.), while anything after that comes into my territory (2:30 a.m. to 6 a.m.). Don’t forget White Noise Machine.

Early to bed

Go to sleep when the kids do. That is hard for me because there’s a lot that should be done, or Let me have that time to relax in tranquility – but do it!

Sleep-sharing

The very best strategy I used to get sleep when my little girl was a new baby was to have her sleep with me. At first, she was in her bassinet and would wake for durations of four to five hours, therefore we’d walk around and nurse until she fell back again to sleep. Finally, my doctor advised we take her to bed around. She slept great and woke up only briefly to nurse.

Most babies tend to move enough, so don’t underestimate the mobility of your baby. When you’re dressing your baby never leave him/her alone, even for a moment. Knowing your baby in the years that follow, your will watch and help your baby to grow. These first few months, although very demanding, will be the beginning of many cherished memories.
